Amelia is  an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan studying environmental science and writing. Her compassion and empathy drives her studies. Amelia learns how the natural world works with the intent of remediation for both nature and people. She uses her writing to inform people about environmental topics she cares about while keeping a strong theme of positivity throughout her pieces.

 

Born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, Amelia values and exhibits the Midwestern values of hard work and loyalty. Growing up in Abe Lincoln's hometown, she appreciates the history and authenticity of communities. She hopes with her work in sustainability that she can help uplift and preserve communities rich with history and culture.

Amelia also has dedicated much of her time to working in school settings with children as a tutor and mentor. She is drawn to working with the youth because she likes to inspire future generations, and she finds that she learns more about herself in these settings. Amelia believes that the more you learn about your self, the stronger your writing will be.
